Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge

Carrick-a-Rede’s rope bridge crosses to a small island with an 80-foot drop to the sea below — not a crossing for anyone with a fear of heights, but a striking one, with the wind and the sound of the waves below and open views along the coast. The bridge itself was originally slung up each year by salmon fishermen to reach their nets; it’s now a National Trust attraction, generally open from spring through autumn, weather permitting.
