Ballycastle Museum

Ballycastle Museum occupies the town’s listed 18th-century courthouse and market building on Castle Street, once the venue for the town’s petty sessions. Inside, the collection covers the folk and social history of the Glens, from Bronze Age archaeology through to Hugh Boyd’s 18th-century Ballycastle.

Among the exhibits is the Taise Banner, carried at the first Feis na nGleann in 1904 — the Glens’ Irish-language cultural festival, still held annually. The museum also holds material on the Irish Home Industries workshop and its part in the Arts and Crafts Revival, including its showing at the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis.

Admission is free. The museum is run by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s Museum Service and opens seasonally, typically from April to August — check current hours before visiting, as they vary through the season.
