About Ballycastle Info

Ballycastle Info has been online since 2001, originally set up by a Ballycastle native who felt local and national tourism efforts weren’t doing the town justice — so he built his own guide instead, hoping to bring more visitors to a stretch of coast that’s stunning and, outside the Glens of Antrim, still not widely known.

After he moved away to Ballymoney, the site sat mostly dormant for years, kept alive only by hosting renewal fees. In autumn 2019, Content Kings — a marketing agency based just along the coast — came across the site while researching a different project, saw the opportunity, and bought it. The plan was to develop it properly for tourism rather than treat it as a straight commercial play, since genuinely good, independent local guides for this stretch of coast were (and still are) rare.

The COVID-19 pandemic put those plans on hold within months of the handover. The site relaunched properly in 2023, and this redesign continues that work — real content, fact-checked against current sources rather than copied from whatever was already online, covering Ballycastle, Rathlin Island, and the surrounding coast and glens.

Events worth knowing about

Beyond the Ould Lammas Fair, Ballycastle’s calendar includes the Ballycastle Rock & Blues Festival and the Rathlin Sound Maritime Festival, a ten-day celebration of the area’s maritime and cultural heritage spanning both Ballycastle and Rathlin Island.
